July 14, Fineko/abc.az. The Kyrgyz government has imposed a complete ban on the export of fuel from the country and simplified its import.
The measure is aimed at stabilizing the domestic oil and petroleum product market, protecting energy security, and preventing fuel shortages.
The decree imposes a complete ban on the export of fuel outside the country, even to the EAEU countries. The only exception is for fuel and lubricants stored in the standard fuel tanks of vehicles. At the same time, until April 1, 2027, the ban on the import of fuel by motor vehicles, which had been in effect since 2019, is suspended.
Since the beginning of the year, fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan have increased by 7-10%: a liter of AI-92 gasoline costs about 80 soms (92 US cents). To stabilize the situation, the authorities have introduced state regulation of prices for AI-92 and diesel fuel. The government is also negotiating fuel and lubricant supplies with six countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
