Diamond prices rose in June, especially for small stones

July 13, Fineko/abc.az. Global diamond prices rose predominantly in June, with the most noticeable growth recorded in the small stone segment, Profile publication Rapaport reports, referring to Rapaport Trade Diamond Index (RAPI).

The prices of diamonds weighing 0.3 carats grew by 4.2% and 0.5 carats by 1.3%. At the same time, 1-carat diamonds fell in price by 0.7%, while 3-carat diamonds rose in price by 0.4%.

Since the beginning of the year, the dynamics has been as follows: +7.7% for 0.3 carats, −1.1% for 0.5 carats, +6.4% for 1 carat, and −1.8% for 3 carats.

According to Rapaport, increase in prices for small diamonds is largely linked with a drop in market supply.
