SOCAR makes first delivery of 5,000 tons of gasoline from Italy to Georgia

September 4, Fineko/abc.az. SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), has imported 5,000 tons of high-quality gasoline to Georgia from Italiana Petroli, a company within the SOCAR Group.

According to SOCAR, the first batch of fuel, compliant with the European EN 228 standard, was delivered to Georgia aboard a SOCAR-owned vessel.

This is the first direct commercial transaction between SOCAR Georgia Petroleum and Italiana Petroli following SOCAR’s acquisition of 99.82% of Italiana Petroli’s shares.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum Director Nodar Kanchaveli said that combining Italiana Petroli’s expertise in oil refining and quality control with SOCAR’s international infrastructure creates opportunities to diversify fuel supplies to the Georgian market.

According to him, the cooperation will contribute to more reliable and uninterrupted supplies of fuel meeting European standards to Georgia.
