Azerbaijan’s onion exports reach $4.8 million in six months

September 3, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan exported 19,441 tons of onions worth $4.8 million in January–June 2026.

According to the State Statistics Committee, compared with the same period in 2024, exports increased 2.7-fold in value terms and 4.3-fold in volume terms.

Georgia was the main export destination, with 16,989 tons of onions worth $3.7 million shipped there during the six-month period. This was 41 times higher in value and 49 times higher in volume than a year earlier.

Azerbaijan exported 2,077 tons worth $942,000 to Russia, down 39% in value and 45% in volume. Exports to Iraq amounted to 200 tons worth $40,000, compared with no shipments a year earlier. Belarus received 64.2 tons worth $22,300, down 75% in value and 67% in volume. Exports to Türkiye totaled 109.5 tons worth $21,900.

In 2025, Georgia accounted for 72.4% of Azerbaijan’s total onion exports, which amounted to 25,803 tons.
