September 2, Fineko/abc.az. The State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan has improved digital tax administration to support the development of the digital economy, formally recognize the activities of individuals earning income through social media, including bloggers and influencers, and enhance the transparency of their registration.
The agency reported this.
According to the agency, the number of people earning income through social media and other digital platforms has increased significantly in recent years through advertising, marketing, the promotion of goods and services, content creation, live streaming, and various forms of collaboration.
At the same time, the absence of a separate category for this sector in the existing classification of economic activities made it difficult to register and statistically assess such activities.
In response to this need, a new category — “Digital platform founder” (code 6312003) — has been added to the classification of activities.
The change will allow the activities of bloggers and influencers to be registered more accurately and transparently, recognize them as a separate type of economic activity, and provide more comprehensive statistics.
